George Frederick Root (1820 – 1895) was a popular U.s. ballad maker when you took a Civil War.

He was natural at Sheffield, Massachusetts and was for some instance the music teacher within Boston and New York. He so took to song writing, & when you took a Civil War leaped into fame when a composer of Tramp, tramp, tramp a Boys come Marching, Simply prior to a Battle, Mother, A Battle Cry of Freedom, & more songs. He was mass produced the Musical Doctor per University of Chicago in 1872.
